Anemia can have a wide variety of causes. The most common type is iron-deficiency anemia. The red color of red blood cells comes from hemoglobin, which contains iron.
Iron-deficiency anemia often occurs when there is insufficient iron intake from food. It is also more common in women due to menstruation. In such cases, iron supplements are often prescribed. However, even when taking iron supplements, if oxidative stress levels are high, the body may not efficiently utilize the iron. To address this, antioxidants are often taken alongside iron supplements.
This is the most common approach to treating iron-deficiency anemia, the most prevalent form of anemia.
